Our Investments
We invest in what we know.
Restaurants we’re proud to eat at. Buildings we plan to own for decades. Founders we’d happily build alongside. Here’s where our capital, and our time, goes.
Hospitality
We’re investors in the Omakase Restaurant Group, the San Francisco team behind some of the most celebrated tables in the Bay Area.
For us, it started with a single meal at Omakase, a tiny Edomae-style sushi counter in SoMa that went on to earn a Michelin star, and it ballooned from there. Then came Niku Steakhouse, a Michelin-starred temple to Wagyu that has been ranked among the best steak restaurants in the world. And Dumpling Time, the soup-dumpling favorite that was the first restaurant to open at Thrive City outside Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors.
Great restaurants are some of the hardest businesses there are. We love them anyway, and we’re proud of every plate.
Highlights
- Two Michelin-starred restaurants: Omakase and Niku Steakhouse
- Niku: No. 49 on the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants (2025)
- Dumpling Time at Chase Center, plus franchise locations
- A Michelin Bib Gourmand for sister restaurant Okane

Real Estate
A portfolio of 46 properties, from single-family homes to apartment communities to commercial offices, across Phoenix, Los Angeles and Northern California.
We’re not flippers. We buy, develop and hold, and we plan to own what we buy for the long haul. That means choosing properties we’d be happy to own in twenty years, then putting in the work to make them better.
We partner directly with operators who are on the ground floor, the people who know the block, the tenants and the contractors by name. They bring the local knowledge. We bring patient capital and a long view.
Our team includes licensed real estate agent and broker expertise. We don’t offer brokerage services, but it means we understand every side of a deal we invest in: sourcing, negotiating, closing and managing what we own.
How we invest
- Buy, develop and hold, not buy and flip
- Licensed agent and broker expertise in-house
- Add value, then keep it
- Hands-on operating partners
Where
What
Technology
We place high value on companies where we see disruptive application of technology and even more value on the entrepreneur and the management team.
We focus primarily on early-stage companies. And we’re not here to write a check and disappear. We’ve been founders ourselves, and we’ve bought and sold technology companies along the way, so we know what the early days actually feel like.
We live and work in the heart of Silicon Valley. When a founder needs an introduction, a gut check on a term sheet, or someone who’s been through an acquisition before, we pick up the phone.
What we bring
- Years of operating experience as founders and acquirers
- A deep Silicon Valley network
- Honest advice, early and often
Consumer & CPG
Consumer packaged goods is a hard business. Shelf space is brutal, margins are thin, and most brands never make it. We invest anyway, because the ones that do can be extraordinary.
Our biggest CPG investment was an early one in Liquid Death. We watched a canned mountain-water company that people kept mistaking for beer grow into a partner of Live Nation, sell out at Costco, and eventually run its own Super Bowl commercial.
We’ve also backed businesses ranging from collectibles to clothing. Platforms like Shopify have turned small niches and real passions into real businesses, and we love investing in the people behind them, often bringing our own experience along. We’ve also been part of several exits in medical consumer products.
Where we’ve been
What we look for
- Founders obsessed with their customer
- A brand people want to talk about
- Real repeat demand
Financial Technology
We invest in the software behind investing: the models, data and systems that make modern markets work.
This isn’t simply putting money in the stock market. (We do that too, but that’s not this.) We back quantitative investment teams: researchers who use data and models to trade options and volatility for institutional investors, with systematic discipline instead of gut feel.
We also build our own. We’re taking our software background and applying it directly to financial markets, with systematic, rules-based strategies that are tested against years of market data before they ever see real capital, and that run within hard risk limits.
Where we invest
- Quantitative investment teams
- Trading and market-data technology
- Our own systematic strategies
How we build
- Tested before trusted
- Hard limits on size and losses
- Never chasing a loss
Giving Back
Our biggest family tradition is a toy drive. It started at a party we call Hallo-Givings-Mas, and we’ve kept it going ever since.
Our family is big enough that one party can bring together a hundred of us. Years ago we rolled Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas into one celebration, with turkey, costumes, Darth Santa, and a fire truck that pulled up to the house for our toy drive. Christmas became about giving toys, not just getting them.
Today the next generation of our family carries it forward through Play It Forward, a small team of local students who collect, clean, sort and repack donated toys for kids who need them. We back them, alongside the organizations below.
How we give
- Holiday toy drives, run by our family
- Alongside Toys for Tots and local firefighters
- Close to home, in the Bay Area
- Hands-on, not just a check
